the TOP (page one) OREGON bloggers here on ActiveRAIN.
It's a real in-group post -- strictly of interest to Members.
It is instructive on where we have all been. It is not necessarily indicative of future performance. (Your investment of blogging effort could be subject to a loss of capital...if you fall silent.)

He is number one for points in Oregon. Todd is so far ahead of the rest of us he could take two years off and still have a 100,000 point lead.
Todd, with a current total of 886,000 points, is truly off the chart here in Oregon.
Of course, Todd is also the point leader across the continent here on AR .... though he couldn't stay on top in that arena if he took a very long vacation.
The chart only goes back to May, 2009. That's as long as I've been blogging in the RAIN. I wrote down the points of the page one Oregon REALTOR bloggers when I first started. I was probably on page 23 or something. I only noted the totals of other Oregon bloggers much later. I'm delighted to now be in the state's top eleven. But I am keenly aware that status could be temporary.
Walking Between the Drops
here in ActiveRAIN.
Happy New Year...whether you show up on this chart or not.

Jim, Interesting. I am watching some of this in Georgia, but not quite as detailed. I have noted that some are more active than others. (I will be passing a lot of the "others" soon!) All the best, Michelle
It's all in fun....except with this group, it's probably all about competition.
Jim, It looks like your climbing like a missile, good job. Keep blogging and commenting and have a great New Year!
Jim - More than points, I think all of us have benefited from all we have learned and shared here on Active Rain. I know for our business we've thrived and grown in 2009 and can attribute much of it to what we've learned here on A/R and all the great business that has come our way due to SEO! Wishing you success in 2010!
Jim ~ Your points are going straight upwards -- you've made more progress this year than most of the Oregonians! Keep up the great effort. Blogging on A/R is definitely good for business!!
Congratulations on moving up in the ranks, Jim! Wishing you much success in 2010.
Interresting chart with all those squiggles Jim. Looks more like a petrie dish.
I'm afraid this chart did not come through with the clarity it has on my spreadsheet. It's just too darn long I guess.
I didn't mean it to merely show that I had climbed rapidly...because I am certainly not the only one.
Great success to everyone in 2010.
Jim I wonder if it would look different in one of the Free Charts that you can use on line? I like to use http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/createAgraph/default.aspx as they are so easy to use.
Very cool though and quite motivating. Especially for me as I tend to lounge around to often. Perhaps you could do it as a monthly update for Oregon Bloggers as Group?
Herb -
This was done on Excel, xfred to Paint, then Microsoft picture manager. I'm not sure what made it so fuzzy...except its length.
Excel is easy these days.
Monthly, maybe. Quarterly, probably. At the end of January, no, I'll be out of the country.
Jim ~ Looks like I am 15 out of 25... and climbing. Not too shabby :) Thanks for charting our progress. How long did it take you to do that? I think we should start calling you The Wizard!
Jim That is interesting, But I doubt if it has any long range implications. Of coures I've been known to be wrong vey occasionally :)
It really does show that if you put your mind to something you will succeed. Now, when I set out my plan wasn't to become #1, it was to build me SEO and that is still my daily plan. I did get the set back in December with my car and laptop being stolen. But, now that I have the new PC in hand and my Dragon Naturally speaking back in hand, I hope to be back blogging again.

I promise, anyone can catch me if they put their mind to it.
Melinda -
You are a rocket.
I took down a hand-written list on each of the data days...with no plan in mind. Then I saw a post in December on the top dogs on AR overall. I threw my lists into a spreadsheet....took the better part of an hour in early December. I made a list on January 1, popped that data into Excel and did the post. Writing it (since I don't use Dragon speaking like Todd) took most of the time. Updating the post would take about 30-45 minutes. I could do it monthly but quarterly sounds like enough to me.
Karen -
This is more for friendly fun than anything. Quality counts. This does not measure quality.
Todd -
Surely you jest. Let me do the math:
Yes, someone could catch you:
By gaining maybe 300 on you a week---because you probably/usually max out. The nearest person has well over 600,000 points to catch up. 600,000 divided by 300 = 2000 weeks or 38 years.
By gaining 600 a week = 19 years.
By gaining 1200 a week = 9.5 years.
By gaining 2400 a week = 4.25 years.
If you take a couple years off, somebody might try it.
Now Lynn Harley catching you....that's another matter.
Wow Jim, it looks like you had to put some work into that chart! It's been fun seeing people move to different places in our Oregon rankings. And, I just know the DUCKS will do better next year!
Have hope, I maybe forced to take a vacation by the wife and if that happens surely I won't be able to take the PC this time. She is still pretty mad about the last trip I put it in the trunk without her knowledge on. Also a real quick way to gain points that doesn't involve blogging is tell others about it! You will get 10% of their points total, so why not tell everyone you know about it and get them blogging.

Hope is a good thing. Hope you get a vacation. Hope you don't take the PC.
But I know you will still blog about it when you return. Unless she keeps you from taking a camera....or puts tape over the aperture on your blackberry.
You can really see who the movers are by the upward trajectories. Looks like you'll break into the top 10 sometime in mid-February ... but watch out for Melinda and Gary! :)

Trust a really good graph-posting-guy like you to actually get in and read the graph. You are so right.
Hi Jim - Interesting seeing the results in our "lineup" here in Oregon. Thanks for putting this together.
Karen -
We have a great line up here in Oregon.
Just stopping off to give you a gentle nudge. Haven't seen you on for a week and was just concerned. Hope everything is going good for you and your family and keep up the climb of the Oregon charts.

Todd -
I'm fine. Just very busy. It's a new real estate year and I'm feeling it. I'm also very busy getting my work ready for my wife and I to go on the first vacation we've had in over two years. Our 21-yer-old son is staying behind, but my wife and I are headed to a wedding in Taiwan with my son, his wife, and our sole grandson.
My daughter-in-law is Taiwanese. Her sister is getting married. She has visited here several times in the ten years my older son has been married and we count her as part of our family.
We leave on Jan 20 and return of Feb 4. I will be dark on AR during that time as I don't know how I can do much from there. It's going to be crunch time for me from now until I go. Wish me luck on all of that.
Jim
